Privacy Policy

Effective date: [TO BE FILLED WHEN PUBLISHED] Last updated: [TO BE FILLED WHEN PUBLISHED]

This Privacy Policy describes how RGA Studios ("we," "our," "us") handles information in connection with the Sulha mobile application ("Sulha," "the App"). By using Sulha, you agree to the practices described here.

We built Sulha around a simple principle: your reflections, moods, journal entries, and habits belong to you. Most of your data never leaves your device.

1. What we collect and where it lives

1.1 Data stored only on your device

The following data is stored exclusively in the local database on your phone. We do not have access to it, cannot see it, and cannot recover it if you uninstall the App:

  • Journal entries, including titles, content, and prompts
  • Mood logs, mood tags, and mood notes
  • Habit definitions and completion history
  • Sleep logs (bedtime, wake time, duration, quality ratings)
  • Meditation and breathing session history
  • Muhasabah (Islamic evening reflection) entries
  • Daily canvas entries and completion status
  • Weekly insights generated by the App
  • User preferences (name, theme, notification settings, Islamic mode preference)

If you uninstall Sulha, all of this data is permanently deleted. We do not back it up to our servers because we do not have servers that store it.

1.2 Data sent to Google's Gemini AI for processing

Sulha uses Google's Gemini API to generate personalized content, including:

  • Morning canvas prompts, affirmations, and daily action steps
  • Evening check-in recovery plans and next-day rules
  • Islamic morning additions (ayat, dhikr, niyyah)
  • Islamic evening reflections (ayat, muhasabah, gratitude)
  • Weekly insight summaries

When you generate any of the above, the App sends the input you provide (for example, your morning voice-note transcription or your evening reflection text) to Google's Gemini servers for processing. Google returns generated content, which Sulha then stores locally on your device.

Google's handling of this data is governed by Google's Generative AI privacy terms (privacy.google.com/businesses/gemini-app). We do not control how Google processes, retains, or uses these inputs. If this concerns you, do not use the AI-generated canvas features — the rest of the App (mood tracking, journal, habits, meditation, breathing, sleep logging, dhikr counter, dua library) works entirely offline.

1.3 Analytics and crash reporting

Sulha uses [Firebase Crashlytics / Google Analytics for Firebase — DELETE WHICHEVER YOU DON'T USE] to collect:

  • Anonymous crash reports (device model, Android version, stack trace)
  • Anonymous usage statistics (which screens are opened, how often, for how long — never the content of your entries)
  • App version and installation ID

This data is aggregated and anonymized. It does not include your journal content, mood notes, or any personal reflections.

You can opt out of analytics in Settings → Data & Privacy.

1.4 What we do NOT collect

We do not collect:

  • Your name, email, phone number, or physical address
  • Your contacts, photos, or files outside the App
  • Your precise location (Islamic mode uses your device's timezone for prayer time approximations only; we do not receive GPS coordinates)
  • Payment information (in-app purchases are handled entirely by Google Play; we never see card details)
  • Biometric data
  • Health data from Google Health Connect or Samsung Health (unless you explicitly grant it in a future version, which we will disclose here)

1.5 What Google Play Billing collects

If you purchase Sulha Premium or any in-app product, Google Play handles the transaction. Google receives your payment information, not us. We only receive confirmation that a valid purchase occurred, tied to an anonymous Play token. See Google Play's privacy notice for details.

2. How we use your data

2.1 On-device data

Local data is used to power the App's features: showing your mood history, calculating streaks, displaying habit progress, generating charts, and displaying your journal entries. It is never transmitted anywhere else by us.

2.2 AI-generated content data

Data sent to Gemini is used solely to generate the response you requested (a morning canvas, a weekly insight, etc.). We do not use this data for advertising, sell it to third parties, or use it to train any AI model of our own.

2.3 Analytics data

Analytics data helps us understand which features people use and where the App crashes, so we can improve it.

3. Notifications

Sulha uses local notifications for:

  • Morning canvas reminders
  • Evening check-in reminders
  • Muhasabah reminders (Islamic mode)
  • Wind-down bedtime reminders
  • Occasional gentle nudges if you have not opened the App for several days

All notifications are scheduled locally on your device. We do not use push notifications from a server, and we do not know when you receive or interact with a notification.

You can disable any notification at any time in Settings.

4. Children's privacy

Sulha is not intended for children under 13 years of age (or the equivalent minimum digital consent age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided information to us, please contact us and we will delete it.

5. Your rights

Because we do not store your personal data on servers, most data-subject rights are exercised by you directly on your device:

  • Access your data: All your data is visible within the App
  • Delete your data: Uninstall the App, or use the "Reset data" option in Settings
  • Export your data: [If you build export — otherwise remove this line]
  • Withdraw consent for AI: Stop using canvas generation features; the rest of the App will continue to work offline

If you are in the EU, UK, California, or another jurisdiction with data protection laws (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA, DPDP Act, UAE Federal Data Protection Law), you have additional rights, including the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. For requests related to data that we control (analytics, crash reports), contact us at the email below.

6. Data retention

  • On-device data: Retained until you delete it in the App or uninstall
  • Data sent to Gemini: Retained per Google's Gemini API terms; we do not retain a copy
  • Analytics data: Retained by our analytics provider per their retention policies (typically 14 months for Firebase Analytics)
  • Play Store purchase records: Retained by Google Play

7. Third-party services

Sulha relies on the following third parties:

Provider Purpose Their policy
Google Gemini API AI-generated content privacy.google.com
Google Play Services App distribution, in-app purchases policies.google.com
Firebase (Analytics/Crashlytics) Crash reporting, anonymous usage firebase.google.com

We are not responsible for the practices of these providers. Please review their policies.

8. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your data. On-device data is stored in your device's private application storage, which is sandboxed from other apps. Data sent to Gemini uses HTTPS encryption in transit. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure.

If you enable device-level encryption (which most modern Android devices have by default), your Sulha data is encrypted at rest.

9. International data transfers

Because Gemini and Firebase are Google services, data sent to those services may be processed in the United States or other countries where Google operates. By using the AI features, you consent to this transfer.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top and, for material changes, notify you within the App. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.

11. Contact us

If you have questions, requests, or concerns about this policy or your data:

Email: contact.rgastudios@gmail.com

We usually respond within 3–5 business days.
